This function allows you to make multiple global changes across multiple documents.
- Click “Add file” under “Files List” and select all the documents you wish to run the search and replace on. These do not need to be open.
- Click “Add term” under the “Terms List” and specify the current term and the term it should be replaced with. You can add multiple terms to the search and replace;
- Ensure you have the correct options ticked before starting the replace:
Case sensitive |
This enables you to search for only capitalised or lower case terms. |

Enable track changes |
Will make all the global changes using Word track changes. |

Use wildcards |
You can use wildcards to search for text. For example, you can use the asterisk (*) wildcard to search for a string of characters (for example, "s*d" finds "sad" and "started" To search for a character that's defined as a wildcard, type a backslash "\" before the character. For example, type \? to find a question mark. You can use parentheses to group the wildcard characters and text and to indicate the order of evaluation. For example, type<(pre)*(ed)> to find "presorted" and "prevented".

Confirm each replace |
This will ask you to confirm the replacement of each term everywhere it is used in your documents. |

Confirm each document |
This will automatically search and replace the terms specified and then ask you to confirm if you wish to save the amended document once all the changes have been made. |
